18-YEAR-OLD WICHITA WINNER PLANS TO USE $20,000 PRIZE FOR COLLEGE

TOPEKA, KAN. – Stephen Fitzpatrick just graduated from Wichita South High School and his future is looking bright, now that he has won a $20,000 lottery prize!
The 18-year-old says it was his mother who taught him how much fun $2 Bonus Crossword instant scratch tickets can be.
“She plays those tickets all the time, but she’s never won anything like this!” said Fitzpatrick. “I guess it was just my day.”
Fitzpatrick purchased five $2 Bonus Crosswords last Friday. When he saw he had scratched off a $20,000 winner, he had his mom check the ticket. After they agreed it was “for real,” Fitzpatrick hid the ticket until he could claim it at Lottery headquarters.
“I put it in a really good spot. Where? I can’t tell you that. I might have to hide something else there,” the winner joked.
The $20,000 prize comes at a good time for the recent high school graduate. Fitzpatrick says he wants to go to school to become an architect. He plans to attend Butler Community College and then the University of Kansas.
“And this prize money is going toward tuition and books,” said the lucky winner.
Fitzpatrick purchased his winning ticket at Central Food Mart, located at 2900 East Central in Wichita.
