WICHITA RESIDENT BECOMES DEBT FREE WITH $20,000 WIN

TOPEKA, KAN. – After dropping off his son at daycare last Wednesday, Brent Claphan of Wichita stopped at a local convenience store to cash in a few winning lottery tickets. Instead of getting cash for the winnings, he decided to get more tickets. Much to Claphan’s surprise that decision was worth $20,000 when he revealed all ten words on a $2 Bonus Crossword instant scratch ticket, winning a top prize.
“I had six tickets and won on the fourth ticket I scratched,” explained Claphan. “When I realized I’d won, I desperately started looking for a pen, so I could go over the ticket again to make sure I’d scratched off the words correctly. It seemed like it took 10 minutes to find a pen in my car.”
Once he was certain he had a winning ticket, Claphan went to his wife’s work to show her the winning ticket.
“When I got there my wife Kasandra was on the phone, so I stood there smiling until she was finished with the call,” said Claphan. “She asked me why I was smiling and I handed her the ticket. She was in awe when she realized how much I’d won.”
According to Claphan, he’s had good luck playing Bonus Crossword instant scratch tickets.
“I’ve won $500 twice in the last six months,” said Claphan. “It’s frustrating when you don’t win, but great when you do win.”
Claphan and his wife, who have been married six years, have three children. He plans to pay bills and become debt free with his prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Kwik Shop 748, located at 2809 E. Douglas Ave. in Wichita.
